How long do we have to keep the documents uploaded under e-SANCHIT?
1. The Government of India has implemented paperless processing under SWIFT-Uploading of supporting Documents in (e-SANCHIT) Exports.
2. The full particulars of this procedure are given in Public Notice no.150/2018 dates 04.12.2018.
3. As per para no. 2 of the Public Notice, you are required to preserve all the documents which you have uploaded in the system, for a minimum of 5 years. We reproduce the provision.
“The Regulations also provide that the authorized person shall retain, for a period of 5 years from the date of acceptance of the Shipping Bill, all supporting documents in original, which were used or relied upon by him in submitting the electronic integrated declaration, and shall produce them before Customs or other government agencies in connection with any action or proceedings under the Customs Act, 1962 or any other law for the time being in force”
